This are the fluffiest and delicious homemade pretzel hotdogs you`ve ever tried. Perfect for any occasion everybody is going to love it. One of the kids favorites recipes. I used to eat something similar when I was in school and since then I wanted to try to make homemade pretzel hotdogs wrapped in dough and it was the best decision as taste hundreds times better.
Ingredients
- 12 hotdogs ( Herta Frankfurter Classic)
- 500g flour
- 300ml warm water
- 50g melted butter
- 30g baking soda
- 20g white sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 10g dried yeast
- a pinch of salt
Instructions
TIP: You can melt the butter in the microwave for a few seconds as it has to be cooled when you add it in the dough.
First we will prepare the dough. Pour the warm water in a medium bowl, add the yeast and sugar and mix everything well using a manual whisk.
Once the yeast is dissolved, add the flour, salt and the melted and cooled butter and mix until the dough is formed. Knead it for approximately 10 minutes until becomes elastic and supple. It has to be soft but not sticky. Place it into an oil greased bowl and let it rise for approximately 1 hour, or until it doubles in volume. Don`t forget to cover it with plastic foil or a clean kitchen towel.
Once the dough is risen we can move to the next step.
Take a piece of 70g of dough and roll it, grab a hotdog and roll the dough around it. If is too much dough remove it and squeeze the ends well. Repeat until you finish the whole dough.
Is mandatory to scald them. For this you will need a large pot with 2,5 l of hot water in which we will add the baking soda. Add the pretzel dogs about 4 at a time and scald them for approximately 30 seconds. Remove them after 30 seconds and place them in the oven tray. Sprinkle them with sesame seeds, you can also grind some rock salt, whatever you fancy.
Bake them into the preheated oven at 180-200 degrees Celsius for approximately 20 minutes.
Once the pretzel dogs are ready let them cool down. Definitely this are the fluffiest pretzel dogs you`ve tried.
Serve them with mustard, ketchup or chili sauce.
